I thought it would be more like a flashlight which they like to play with but I wanted something more durable built like a toy. It's actually not a flashlight at all. You turn the yellow cap on the head of it to rotate between patterns, and press a green button to see the red signal appear - there's a cobra, an eagle, a brick wall and 2 useless logos that would have been more fun if they were images or patterns instead. The kids love to aim it at the floor, walls, ceiling and press the button to see it appear. They like to hold it close to the surface and move it farther away to see the pattern go from small to big and back again. My 2 year old asked if he could sleep with it the first day he got it. I didn't give them the rocket launcher, just threw it out and kept that hatch closed, didn't mention it. Also, you have to hold down the button so they can't leave it on accidentally. Joe toys. You could say I live in the G.I.Joe capital of the universe. I knew my camping sons would think this toy flashlight was a fun addition to the "real" flashlights they would need.Sadly, this flashlight didn't stand up well to the "rough and tumble" play of my 6 and 8 year old boys. If we'd been playing with it at home, maybe it would've lasted a little longer...? I'm not sure, though. The plastic edges chipped right away, and the battery case couldn't fit well anymore. The light itself was dim (it certainly couldn't be used as a flashlight if you needed to see by it). I still gave this toy three stars because the boys are still playing with it. Sadly, they have to play with it as a "pretend" flashlight. |
